Vision Mission and Core Values Statement

Empowerment is a non-profit organization, founded in 2002, registered under Societies Registration Act 1860, Section 12A and 80G (5) (vi) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

Art and Culture plays an important role in the development agenda of any nation. Visual arts and crafts are an image of our culture that is both visible as well as tangible. Our art, traditional crafts and culture are more prone to deterioration due to development and lack of awareness among the younger generations about the value of these traditions.

Thus it is the mission of Empowerment to keep our art and culture alive, respect and value our culture and traditions, educate students about it, give exposure to them to become global citizens, empower artists and craftsmen by implementing technological, design and marketing interventions and develop their clusters.



  • Empowerment is an affirmation of need to conserve and promote an awareness of the rich culture tapestry of India amongst the children and youths, through focus on the visual arts and crafts and facilitate an appreciation of their deeper values.
  • To establish resource centre for crafts, work sheds, organize research, design, marketing interventions and technological assistance by setting up of facility centers for artisans.
  • To foster cultural contacts within the country and also with other countries, through residencies, camps, workshops, exhibitions, exchanges of personal and art objects, etc.
  • To establish, run, where necessary Art, Design, Craft Centers, educational institutes, artist studios, hostel facilities for the artist  fraternity.
  • Run vocational training centres and skill development programs in folk, tribal, minority arts and crafts and other handloom and handicrafts of India.
  • To publish and to promote publication of literature on art and culture including monographs, journals etc;
  • To implement creative and value added education programs to make learning experience more meaningful and enriching for students.
