Art Freundschaft – Indo German Art Camp

India-German Artist Camp in Berlin


Empowerment in association with Berlin Massive, NGO in Berlin successfully conducted the Art Freundschaft- Indo-German Youth Art Exchange Program from 28thJune-6th July, 2014 in Berlin, Germany. The focus of the camp was to engage the participants in a meaningful dialogue so that they learn with and from each other thus forming life-long ties and an elevated artistic and cultural empathy.

The artists participated in various signature styled German-based cultural workshops including Fraktur the calligraphic art, painting a 6-foot canvas with spray cans, participated in detailed exploration of urban art especially graffiti art where the winning thought was “kala (art) makes friends”, letters, break-dance and human beat boxing. They were exposed to the hip-hop culture, devoured the local food and visited the National Museum in Dresden where they saw original exhibits of some of the famous painters including Goya.

Objective of the Program: Cultural exchanges across the borders with young aritsts bridging the cultural gaps among various cultures, thereby creating a peaceful atmosphere of tolerances for everybody to co-exist and become global citizens. Enhancing Cultural Diplomacy.

The aim is to awaken next to the artistic and cultural exchange an awareness of social and global problems, to encourage the adoption of social responsibility in society. The participants learn with and from each other and engage in a cultural dialogue.
