Art Exhibition by Young Indian Artists in South Africa

 

Ms. Sonika Agarwal recently participated in the exhibition showcasing the works of four of the most prominent Young Artists of India, inaugurated in Pretoria on the 10th of July by H.E. MR Ebrahim, MP, Deputy Minister, Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, Republic of South Africa amidst a huge gathering of the Indian diaspora and locals alike. Scheduled to run till September the exhibition will travel from Pretoria to Johannesburg and eventually to Durban.
H.E Mr. Virendra Gupta High Commissioner of India to South Africa says that this exhibition “is part of our endeavour to build on the momentum in our cultural exchanges generated after highly successful Indian cultural festival in South Africa”. Mr Gupta also added that curiosity levels about Indian art around the world is at its peak at present as many Indian artists are making their presence felt in art circles and beyond.

Ms. Sonika Agarwal visited several art galleries and museums during this trip and shared their ideas and learned about each other’s rich heritage. She says, “Language of art is also the language of love, peace and sensitivity.” She adds, my visit to South Africa was enriching and full of learning.” We held workshops and interactive sessions with art enthusiasts and discussed the thoughts behind their paintings, the popular trends and art scenario in India.
